Quandt is the name of a German industrialist family in the 1700 Brandenburg had establishedPritzwalk . The textile manufacturer Emil Quandt (1849-1925) made his son Quandt (1881-1954) completed an apprenticeship in the textile industry. Then came a Günther Quandt attorney in his father's company. In her first marriage was married to Antonia Günther Quandt Ewald, who died in 1918 in the English flu . From this marriage two sons were Hellmut Quandt (1908-1927) and Herbert Quandt (1910-1982) produced.
At the outbreak of World War Günther Quandt was appointed head of the "Imperial Wool AG" appointed. His group was the main supplier of military . - Nach der nationalsozialistischen Machtübernahme wurde Günther Quandt 1937 zum Wehrwirtschaftsführer ernannt. Die Akkumulatoren der AFA dienten unter anderem U-Booten Weimarer Republik – die Uniformen und Decken, andere Quandt'sche Unternehmen Waffen und Munition. als Antrieb, die Textilbetriebe lieferten – wie schon im Kaiserreich und in der
- Unmittelbar nach Kriegsende wurde Quandt in einem Entnazifizierungsverfahren zum „Mitläufer“ erklärt. Trotz bewiesener Verstrickung in die Verbrechen des Dritten Reichs, unter anderem durch von der AFA betriebene, firmeneigene Konzentrations- und Arbeitslager, wurde er nicht bei den Nürnberger Kriegsverbrecherprozessen angeklagt. Schon wenige Wochen nach der Kapitulation im Mai 1945 hatte seine AFA eine der ersten Betriebgenehmigungen der britischen Besatzungsmacht. Es gelang ihm, sich im Zuge des Wirtschaftswunders durch sein durch die Kriegswirren gerettetes Vermögen wieder eine Führungsrolle in der Nachkriegswirtschaft zu erarbeiten.
- Seine Kinder, den 1910 geborenen Sohn Herbert und dessen Halbbruder Harald, hatte er zu Nachfolgern erkoren. Er brachte beide in leitenden Positionen in den von ihm kontrollierten Betrieben unter. Gemeinsam mit ihnen führte er das "Quandt-Imperium" durch die Familiengesellschaft „AG für Industriebeteiligungen“ von Stuttgart aus. Günther Quandt starb am 20.
